A bit about me…

Hello! I am Mansee Gupte, an accredited psychotherapist with qualifications in Counselling Psychology and over 17 years of experience in the mental health sector. I currently live in Stavanger, Norway with my husband and a toddler.

My Specialisation: I help children and teenagers from multilingual and multicultural families, who are struggling with anxiety and emotional ups and downs.

My practice is rooted in evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches, ensuring that every client receives tailored care to meet their individual needs.

Culturally competent therapy. Personal therapy offered in English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu and Bengali

Understanding Your Culture and Your Language

  • Imagine going to therapy and struggling to express your emotions because your native language feels more comfortable than English.

  • Feeling that your therapist doesn't fully grasp your cultural background and values. How would that impact your journey to healing?

As a multilingual therapist, I understand how important it is for you to feel heard, understood, and supported in your own language and within the context of your unique cultural experiences. I recognise that language plays a crucial role in the therapeutic process.

I speak six languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu, and I have a strong understanding of Gujarati. I am currently learning Norsk. Being fluent in multiple languages allows me to connect deeply and empathetically with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

In our sessions, you are free to express yourself in the language you feel most comfortable with, or even switch between languages to better convey your emotions. This approach ensures that your feelings are fully understood and that the true depth of your emotions is never lost in translation.

I offer culturally sensitive support with a deep understanding of Indian/South Asian, British, and Norwegian cultures. My approach ensures that your unique cultural background is respected and integrated into our sessions, making therapy more relevant and effective for you. Whether you’re dealing with challenges from blending Eastern and Western influences or navigating specific cultural norms, I provide a compassionate space where you feel truly understood. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and supported in a way that honours your cultural identity.

Let’s work together.

My Story…

I have always been passionate about helping people, and my journey into mental health care began in India. Growing up, I witnessed how mental health challenges impacted individuals and families, but there was often a lack of understanding and support. That’s when I decided I wanted to make a difference.

I trained and qualified as a Counselling Psychologist from India, certified by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). For almost a decade, I worked in educational settings, providing individual therapy and leading life skills group therapy sessions for children and teenagers. I also conducted various mental health awareness programs aimed at promoting emotional well-being among students and families.

After moving to the UK, I became a Psychotherapist accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner with the National Health Service (NHS) in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). For 8 years, I supported children, teenagers, and their families in navigating complex mental health issues. I conducted mental health assessments, facilitated group therapy sessions, and offered personalised, evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I worked closely with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and self-harm, helping them develop the tools to manage their mental health.

My role in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) team, included supporting children and young people in managing risk-related behaviours such as self-harm, suicidal thoughts, missing episodes, disordered eating etc. The work was challenging, but seeing the positive changes in these young people after providing them with the right tools to manage their emotions was incredibly fulfilling.

During my time in NHS, it was rewarding working with neurodiverse clients, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I found that by tailoring my therapy, it gave me invaluable insight into how to adapt traditional therapeutic models for children and young people.

After relocating to Norway recently, I launched my private therapy practice as a Psychotherapist, offering online therapy sessions to individuals and families. My remote services ensure you can receive expert support from the comfort of your home, no matter where you are.
